Elders

The RiverWalk Church of Christ is guided by a group elders, each of whom was selected by the members of the congregation to be their
spiritual leaders and shepherds.

Matt Reese

Matt is the most recent addition to our eldership, joining us in March of 2023. Matt and Casie have been married since April of 2002 and have lived in Wichita their entire marriage. They have three children together, Caleb, Micah and Chole. Matt graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has worked at Textron in Wichita for many years. Matt has a special love for mission work that was first begun in him during a trip to Thailand. He has also been to Belize, Guyana, and Russia on various mission endeavors. He has headed the Missions Committee at Riverwalk for a number of years and enjoys overseeing that work. Matt is also a pilot and enjoys flying with his family.

Larry Huffman

Larry and Donna have been married for over 50 years. Larry calls her his inspiration. They are both retired school teachers. They have 3 adult children (Denise, Dennis and Debbie) and 6 grandchildren. Larry and Donna have been members of CentralRiverWalk since 1984 and Larry served as part of the eldership from 1985-2008, when it became necessary to make a move and care for Donna’s aging parents. Larry says, “I consider myself to be blessed to have served and been mentored by some very godly men during those years as an elder, and serving in any capacity now is an honor to them and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Robert (Bob) Kay married Cindy in July 1990. They have one adult son, Michael. Bob retired from Spirit AeroSystems in 2019 after more than 33 years of service. Bob has been a Central/RiverWalk member since 1985 and has served as a deacon/servant leader in a number of roles including worship participant coordinator, technology deacon, and capital campaign leader. Bob also served on the Board of The Independent School from 2012-2015. Originally from Kokomo, Indiana, Bob moved to Wichita after graduating from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1984. His interests include classic cars, golf, and the Purdue Boilermakers.

Jay Plank

Jay Plank has been married to Patricia for over 40 years. They have 2 sons, Michael and Scott, as well as 8 grandchildren. In addition to serving as an elder, Jay is also one of our staff ministers, responsible for administration, seniors and the adult curriculum. He and Pat have been members of RiverWalk since 2006, having come to Wichita to be houseparents at Carpenter Place. Jay has enjoyed several career paths, including radio/television broadcast, technical engineering and on-air work, ministry in youth and education, and health care administration. Jay has served as a minister of the Gospel since 1981, as well as a deacon at the Eastside Church of Christ in Harper KS in the 1980’s. He attended Oklahoma Christian and completed his degree at Newman University.

Jay enjoys his grandchildren, Botanica, trains, astronomy, how things work, Pawnee Prairie Park, as well as rural and Western Kansas. He calls Pat his “foundation and strength”, the support that enables and encourages him.
